Boy am I tired….I tried to make the rounds last night….but whew……
I wanted to post this note of thanks!
Thanks to all of you here on this blog ;to all of you that follow me on Facebook and Twitter..and to those that listen to the show M-F on WJSU and on Sundays on WRBJ 97.7……but more importantly thanks to all of you that went out and voted yesterday…. You spoke volumes.
You said:
NO to corrupt politics.
NO to BIG MONEY.
NO to undue influence.
NO to dirty campaigning.
I am so humbled by your presence.
You said:
YES to getting Jackson back on track.
YES to good government.
YES to clean campaigning.
YES to the under dog.
You sent a strong message that one community could not nor should not decide who the leadership of the city should be.
Now, the real work begins….we need to make a vow to never allow dirty campaigning to entire into the political equation. Let’s work together to move Jackson forward. There’s room for everyone.
I would hope that the Crisler camp would embrace and support Harvey Johnson in the June 2nd general election. You never know what could happen in two weeks.
I would hope that the Crisler camp learned a powerful lesson yesterday…and that is simple….the voters in Jackson are smart and when it is time to rise to the occasion we do! Crisler’s career in politics is far from over, but he has a lot of work to do to restore his credibility in the BLACK community (it can be done).
Looking at the numbers..it was a very sad showing for Crisler in every black ward in Jackson. This city is 72% black and to think that you could win a race without black folk baffles me. To think that a half million dollars would somehow persuade black folk that you were the right choice to move Jackson forward….but the really sad part for me was the dirty campaigning. To use President Obama’s voice to bash Harvey Johnson was the lowest that you could have gotten for me. This was worse than the mean spirited fliers that came from Crisler’s camp or some of his third party supporters. You all know the love, admiration and respect that we have for President Obama…to try and insult our intelligence was beyond anything that I can comprehend.
But, I digress because now is the time for healing and now is the time for progression.
Let’s work to build back up what we’ve lost over the last four years…let’s work to bridge the racial divide that exists in this city. Let’s bring all zip codes together.
In the coming few weeks you will hear about a MOVEMENT that we are planning. I would hope that all of you would join our cause.
Thank you again for showing up and showing out yesterday…don’t be misinformed you all ROCK…the voter turnout Tuesday was higher by early estimates than it was on May 5th.
Thank you!
