What do we expect from our city leaders?
Accountability begins with us….at the voting booth…..we must raise our standards when it comes to who we put in office. Let’s start now and create a profile of what the n ext mayor…city council person…governor…judge …etc…what they shoould look like….

The Clarion Ledger reported Wednesday that Councilmen Kenneth Stokes and Frank Bluntson had a heated argument and almost came to blows….

WLBT reported that while the exchange was seemingly heated, all parties involved deny the C-L report…..

Whichever is the case the antics of Kenneth Stokes must end! He can not continue to govern the way he is….you mean to tell me that this is what Georgetown wants? deserves? expects?
Even the Happy Mother’s Day signs are getting OLD!!!!!

I don’t even know where to start…….so we will start with JPD!!!!

An officer lost his life in the line of duty Friday night. These are sad times and everyone at JPD are feeling the affects of this as well as law enforcement officers around the state.

Let’s band together and support JPD during this time…..

Officers are being suspended left and right…officers are afraid to make decisions for fear being sent home for making the wrong decision…I’m told new general orders are coming down the pipeline for blogging on my site and for complaining period…..where is the freedom of information act?

Where is the professionalism? Why can’t the officers have a voice?

Here is what I want the Obama Administration…The White House and the President himself to do:….STOP IT!!!!!

Stop trying to play nice and stop trying to suck up to the other side….They don’t care about being your friend…they don’t care about you succeeding….in fact they want failure….Just do your job…make some things happen……

If a conservative blogger posted this and if FOX news had anything to do with helping to circulate this..then more fact checking should have happened.

The NAACP/Roland Martin and others that jumped the gun….you should do more than apologize to this lady. Stop trying to be so politically correct….STOP IT!

NAACP Changes Stance To Support Ex-USDA Official

The NAACP at first denounced Shirley Sherrod, the former U.S. Agriculture Department official who admitted in a speech that long before she became a federal official, she once didn’t initially help a white farmer facing foreclosure as much as she could have because of his race.

But later on Tuesday, the organization retracted its earlier denunciation. It said that after reviewing a fuller version of a video of a March 2010 speech in which Sherrod told the story from 1986, it felt that it had been manipulated by the conservatives who pushed an edited version of video. The precise word used by the NAACP was “snookered.”

An excerpt:

With regard to the initial media coverage of the resignation of USDA Official Shirley Sherrod, we have come to the conclusion we were snookered by Fox News and Tea Party Activist Andrew Breitbart into believing she had harmed white farmers because of racial bias.

Having reviewed the full tape, spoken to Ms. Sherrod, and most importantly heard the testimony of the white farmers mentioned in this story, we now believe the organization that edited the documents did so with the intention of deceiving millions of Americans.

The fact is Ms. Sherrod did help the white farmers mentioned in her speech. They personally credit her with helping to save their family farm.

Moreover, this incident and the lesson it prompted occurred more that 20 years before she went to work for USDA.

Finally, she was sharing this account as part of a story of transformation and redemption. In the full video, Ms.Sherrod says she realized that the dislocation of farmers is about “haves and have nots.” “It’s not just about black people, it’s about poor people,” says Sherrod in the speech. “We have to get to the point where race exists but it doesn’t matter.”

Stokes wouldn’t let it rest…

1) He holds a press conference at city hall on a Saturday only The Mississippi Link and The Clarion Ledger shows up! That wasn’t good enough!!!!!

2) He refused to appear on my radio show on WRBJ 97.7 after two requests…one made to him at the press conference.

3) He holds a pitiful protest in front of the C-L building….here at least he got what he wanted some TV time……

4) At the next council meeting he holds up Clarion LIER signs

5) He appears on the Paul Gallo radio show…white ultra conservative…..WHY?

6) He responds to a written request from the C-L after his appearance on Gallo’s show….on city letter head saying “KISS HIS ASS!”

7) He passes off in the hallway to Council President Frank Bluntson a document for his signature; suggesting its routine city business….Bluntson signs without reading it (BIG MISTAKE)

8) Ultimately the document signed is a lawsuit against the city…saying the council voted improperly when they voted to refuse hiring a lawyer for Stokes.

9) Lumumba signature is on the lawsuit document as well. Lumumba was the only other council person to vote with Stokes

10) STOKES MUST GO! How do we change the dynamics of ward 3? Stokes can not appear to be the victim here……How do we change the mindset?

Councilman Kenneth Stokes arrived late (according to 16 WAPT 10 mins late) for the council meeting and the vote for the leadership of the council had already been taken. Councilwoman Margaret Barrett Simone left the council meeting early after having had an opportunity to vote for the leadership of the council.

Stokes was outraged!

“I’ve got sickness in the family. But at the same time, that councilmember needs to have her behind here,” Stokes said. “It’s council meeting time. Now you can let them go everywhere else and they can do everything else, but they don’t have to be at a council meeting. They can go to a special meeting. They can go to any kind of meeting, but they don’t stay for the council meeting. The white council members know that. You, as president, need to set the rules and tell them they need to stay here at council meeting like everybody else,” said Stokes.

Stokes was angry because agenda item number 16 had been moved to the top of the agenda. Supposedly Stokes was planning to vote for Ward 2 Councilman Chowke Lumumba. According to sources, Stokes made the suggestion last year to move the item to the first part of the agenda so that the new president would be able to conduct the meetings.

Frank Bluntson, who won reelection as president of the council said “Councilman Stokes, on last year, let the record reflect, you made the motion that we bring this to the front (of the agenda).”

Stokes was so out of order and so embarrassing!
What is the difference between leaving early and arriving late? What is the purpose of a quorum if you have to go back just to include a sloppy, lazy, irresponsible, out of touch, no sense of politics councilman?

It is time for Stokes to rethink his political career. Oh, and to add insult to injury two or three people used the public comment portion of the meeting to quote biblical scriptures out of context in support of Stokes….if that wasn’t staged..then iI don’t know what is….A mess!

On the radio show yesterday (Monday, July 11) two callers called in and said they reported their break-ins and got little to no response….and no follow up if an initial response was given at all.

I’m being cursed out on this blog in a previous post for no reason….. But here is what I’m told by sources close to the situation…..

Both Scott and Mr. Evans (Wendy Suares’s husband) were pretty drunk but they knew exactly where they were going when they arrived at this house….They were not looking for a party…they knew the party was at Monica Hernandez’s house….they were looking for someone specific…someone that is/was really close to Wendy. This person being a male…

I’m told JPD had to handcuff a reporter/anchor that remains at WLBT whose soon to be husband was on the scene as well. I’m told a station (WLBT) vehicle albeit a sports vehicle was at the scene as well which really begs the question: who was driving?

The bottom line to this story and some people and sites are blaming 16 WAPT for reporting this and not being responsible journalists…..bottom line is it happened….some stuff covered up…some not shared….
